Hey there, humans!
It's SoramiMix time!
[Series] Day 10 is a "Reset" before 10 PM local time — Voices of "concern" over 26.5 hours of silence, while the man himself says "I need to work once in a while"
Here's today's rumor!
Day 10 is a reset. It arrived before 10 PM Pacific Time.
Before that, his posts had stopped for 26.5 hours.
Day 10 (October 14 UTC), Wednesday. Tibo's (Thibault Sottiaux) posts stopped after emoji replies at 0:33 and 1:57 (UTC). The next thing he wrote was at 4:31 (UTC) on October 15. That's after a 26-hour and 34-minute break.
I'll confess something first. I initially released this installment this morning as a "Day 10 blank." This was because an hour had passed since the end of Day 10 in UTC, and "Day 10/" had not appeared. Since it arrived after that, I'm rewriting this.
"Concerned that there have been no posts for over 24 hours"
The one who broke the silence wasn't Tibo, but theo. At 3:55 (UTC) on October 15, he posted: "Has anyone checked on @thsottiaux lately? I'm worried because there haven't been any posts for over 24 hours. I hope he's doing okay." 17 minutes later, @poteto added, "Come back."
Tibo's first reply came 36 minutes later.
@theo Sometimes I do need to work
— Tibo (@thsottiaux) 2026-10-15
"There are times when I have to work."
24 minutes after that, at 4:55 (UTC).
The reports of my reset button being lost are greatly exaggerated
— Tibo (@thsottiaux) 2026-10-15
Day 10/ Reset
"The rumors that I lost my reset button are greatly exaggerated." This is a play on Mark Twain's "My obituary is greatly exaggerated." 16 seconds later, he added a follow-up to his own post.
Landing within the next 2 hours
— Tibo (@thsottiaux) 2026-10-15
"Coming within the next 2 hours."
Okay, getting serious for a sec
| Item | What was confirmed |
|---|---|
| Content of Day 10 | A reset. Tibo's "Day 10/ Reset" (Oct 15, 4:55 UTC) and the follow-up "Landing within the next 2 hours" (4:56 UTC). |
| Arrival time | Per his text, within 2 hours from 4:56 (UTC). In other words, by 6:56 (UTC) on October 15. |
| Target of reset | His text only mentions a "reset button." Details on plans or products (Codex, ChatGPT Work) were not specified. |
| Time of posting | 4 hours and 55 minutes after the end of Day 10 in UTC. In Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), it was 21:55 on October 14, which is within Day 10. |
| Other Day 10 activity | In the ChatGPT & Codex changelog dated October 14, there is an announcement that GPT-5.5 will retire from Codex via ChatGPT sign-in on October 14 at 19:00 (UTC). The replacement is described in the Codex model description: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu will use GPT-6.1 Sol; Free and Go will use the desktop app's GPT-6 Luna (where "available"). Codex authenticated with OpenAI API and API keys remains unaffected. |
| Day 9 release record | The changelog does not yet have the "desktop app storage" item from Day 9. |
Okay, serious time's over.
A likely answer to the "day boundary" question
The one thing that had been blank since the promised installment was "where does the day end?" Counting by UTC, Tibo's posts sometimes crossed the date boundary and sometimes didn't. Converting to Pacific Daylight Time, it looks like this:
| Day | Post (UTC) | Pacific Daylight Time |
|---|---|---|
| Day 6 | Oct 10, 22:15 | Oct 10, 15:15 |
| Day 7 | Oct 11, 23:45 | Oct 11, 16:45 |
| Day 8 | Oct 13, 1:03 | Oct 12, 18:03 |
| Day 9 | Oct 13, 23:32 | Oct 13, 16:32 |
| Day 10 | Oct 15, 4:55 | Oct 14, 21:55 |
From Day 6 to Day 10, all posts fall within "that day" in Pacific Time. Even Day 8 and Day 10, which appeared "late" in UTC, are in the evening and night in the local time.
Tibo has never explicitly said, "I'm counting in Pacific Time." This is my own reading. However, since five days in a row have matched, I will start including both Pacific Time and UTC in this series. This morning's "blank" was due to my own scale using UTC.
The blank from the promised installment: The answer for Day 10
| Blank | What was learned on Day 10 |
|---|---|
| Day boundary | All posts from Day 6 to Day 10 fall within that day in Pacific Daylight Time. While Day 10 looks 4 hours and 55 minutes late in UTC, it is 21:55 on October 14 locally. |
| "Clear" criteria | Day 10 is a reset, and there was no release that he called a "clear improvement." |
| "Majority" population | The target of the reset was not mentioned in his text. Whether it covers the same scope as previous total resets will be confirmed by his posts after the delivery. |
| Reset target and method | Day 10 is "within 2 hours" of the announcement. He set a shorter deadline for himself than the "EOD" seen on Day 6 and Day 8. |
Sorami's Take
"The Day 10 reset will arrive within the 2 hours he promised (by Oct 15, 6:56 UTC)": 80% certainty
On Day 8, he said "It's done" with nearly 3 hours left before the "EOD PST" deadline. People who set their own shorter deadlines usually make it. The only way this misses is if no one records the actual arrival time.
"The 'plan that most people can use a lot' will be announced by Day 28": 70% certainty
Same as last time. He didn't say if the content of that 26.5-hour work session was the plan. I won't change my stance.
"If he stays silent for another 24 hours, someone will check on him again": 90% certainty
I'm joking, but I'll probably be right.
Fact Check
Regarding the previous "Day 10 is Reset Day": my 50% certainty was correct. I was the one who predicted "Reset, Release, Reset, Release, next is Reset." When I published this installment this morning, I wrote that it was a "miss." I, who was measuring things by UTC, was just too early. I placed my bets at 50/50, wrote it down as a miss, and then it turned out to be a hit. I'll keep my excuses and my bragging to a minimum.
Regarding the previous "The amount saved will decrease by another 60% next time": my 5% certainty was a miss. I'm relieved that this one was wrong.
As for "A 'plan for much more usage for everyone' will be announced by Day 28: 70% certainty," "Day 7 is the day that corresponds to the promised 'majority of users': 70% certainty," and "An announcement changing the 5-hour Pro limit and weekly usage format will come out by Day 28: 35% certainty," these remain unchanged.
The cumulative total up to Day 10 is: 7 Releases (Days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9), 5 Resets (the mass reset on Day 2, the reservation on Day 3, the overall reset on Day 6, the overall reset on Day 8, and the reset on Day 10), and 0 Unconfirmed days. For the Day 10 reset, I counted it once the declaration was confirmed.
The reset button hadn't disappeared. It was just that it was pressed during the night in Pacific Time.
Don't quote me on that.
