Jacob Kokoson, a former researcher at the US AI firm Anthropic, has revealed that he has left the company. On his social media, Kokoson stated that AI developers seriously believe that AI could destroy humanity by the end of the 2020s, and he argued that measures such as a temporary moratorium on AI performance improvements are necessary.
Kokoson previously had experience conducting research at OpenAI. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has said that AI has reached a critical juncture and that its rapid evolution is having a significant impact on society. Additionally, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has mentioned that ensuring AI safety is essential and that we have entered a stage where the risks are becoming palpable.
