Claude Code v2.1.285 has been released, bringing several new management features and configuration options to the CLI tool.

New Features and Improvements

Added CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_WEB_FETCH environment variable to allow users to turn off the WebFetch tool.
Added claude --desktop to open the Claude desktop app in the current directory or an existing session.
Introduced claude plugin configure <plugin> to view and save plugin options via stdin.
Added configuration support for MCP servers during installation using --config.
Added allowedProviders management to restrict API providers (e.g., Anthropic API, Bedrock, Vertex AI).
Introduced CLAUDE_CODE_NONSTREAMING_TIMEOUT_RETRIES to cap re-sends for non-streaming fallback requests.
Improved VSCode integration, including a new on-demand diagnostics tool and improved plugin management forms.
Enhanced image support, allowing Claude apps to preview BMP, HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, or TIFF files sent by Claude Code.

Bug Fixes

Resolved an issue where subagents in a specific configuration failed to run in the foreground.
Fixed SSH installation issues where GIT_SSH or core.sshCommand settings were ignored.
Fixed a bug where Claude Code would refuse to start if the OS denied access to the managed settings file.
Fixed various VSCode-related issues, including menu item misfires, transcript loss during long sessions, and tab-related bugs.
