U.S. and China Agree to Refer to AI as "Super Intelligence (SI)," to Establish Dialogue and Communication Channels

The two countries will establish the "U.S.-China Super Intelligence (SI) Dialogue" to exchange views on the risks and benefits of SI. The next exchange of views is scheduled to take place by November 2026. Additionally, they have agreed to establish a bilateral communication channel to respond to incidents related to SI.

With President Xi's visit to the United States, the operation of the "Board of Trade" and the "Board of Investment," which were decided upon during the summit meeting in May, has also commenced. Regarding the Board of Trade, they have reached an agreement on recommendations for tariff preferences for non-sensitive items worth approximately $30 billion each in both directions. They also stated that they will continue to consult on supply chain issues for critical minerals, such as rare earths, aiming to return shipment volumes to appropriate levels.

A state dinner was held at the White House on the night of the 24th, attended by heads of major IT companies. According to the guest list provided by the White House, attendees included Elon Musk (Tesla/SpaceX), CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), CEO Sundar Pichai (Alphabet/Google), CEO Jensen Huang (NVIDIA), CEO Sam Altman (OpenAI), and Chairman Tim Cook (Apple).
