Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is creating the "Horowitz Andreessen Academy," a program positioned as a pipeline for young people to build or join startups in Silicon Valley. The academy will launch in the fall of 2027 with $42 million in funding led by a16z and 10 initial partners, including Anduril, Anthropic, Coinbase, Google, Meta, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Palantir, Replit, and Stripe.

Andreessen Horowitz to launch $42M academy for startup talent in 2027
The one-year program is designed mainly for recent high school graduates and will accept 50 students. Rather than granting degrees or accreditation, the academy will offer short, high-impact classes led by tech industry figures, such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, alongside "co-ops" that provide students with roles at participating tech companies. The curriculum is intended to have "no traditional grades, tests, or homework."
The inaugural program will be free for its first year. Students will be required to move to San Francisco and arrange their own housing. To support participants, a16z is providing more than $50,000 in compute credits and a $5,000 budget for travel and research.
