At the "Autodesk University 2026" conference held in September 2026, Autodesk announced new AI features and initiatives for "Autodesk Fusion," "Autodesk Inventor," "Autodesk Vault," and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).

In the design and manufacturing software Autodesk Fusion, new features will be deployed to automate design and manufacturing processes. The currently under-development "AutoTimeline" is a feature that converts non-historical geometry into editable parametric parts (a format where the model automatically updates according to changes in dimensions and shape). Additionally, the company is developing "AutoAssemble," which recognizes part shapes to establish placement and connection relationships (joints), and "System Modeler," which supports manufacturing preparation such as toolpath generation in subtractive manufacturing.

In the 3D CAD software for mechanical design, Autodesk Inventor, the "Autodesk Assistant"—an AI assistant that accepts instructions via natural language—will be utilized. This assistant supports model analysis, parameter changes, and the automation of repetitive tasks. Furthermore, a feature called "Fusion Connected Client" will be provided, allowing Inventor to collaborate with Fusion cloud data.

In the product data management software Autodesk Vault, the Autodesk Assistant will assist in the reuse of design assets by enabling searches of existing data and suggesting related parts through natural language. By combining these features, the company aims to form a digital thread (a system where product information is consistently managed throughout the lifecycle) that connects design to manufacturing.
