OpenAI has announced the introduction of a new "Data agent" to ChatGPT Work, capable of generating answers and interactive dashboards from corporate data.
The Data agent can connect to major data sources such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, and Databricks, as well as files within Google Drive and SharePoint. By simply asking questions in natural language, users can investigate data changes and build visualized dashboards without writing queries or learning new analysis tools. Additionally, it is possible to suggest next steps based on analysis results, share information via Slack or email, and execute actions through approved tools.
Context such as business terms, metrics, and calculation formulas defined within the organization is used for data interpretation. Regarding security, administrators can select whether to allow data connections and manage usage permissions, and existing permissions of the connected accounts (such as table, row, and column restrictions) are applied.
According to OpenAI, organizations such as NTT Data and Thermo Fisher are currently using this feature through an alpha program for tasks such as analyzing revenue and expenditures and identifying reporting errors.
