OpenAI announced that the image generation capabilities of ChatGPT have been updated to "ChatGPT Images 2.5." This update improves the understanding of complex visual instructions and enhances image editing performance.

As a new feature, the "Sketch" function has been added, allowing users to generate images based on their own drawings. It is also possible to edit specific parts of an image based on instructions. Access is available via API, offering two options: the high-speed "GPT-Image-2.5 Flare" and the high-quality "GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst."

According to the rankings of the AI quality evaluation service "Arena," GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst is ranked 1st and GPT-Image-2.5 Flare is ranked 2nd in text-to-image generation performance. In the image editing performance rankings, both models also secured 1st and 2nd place respectively.
