OpenAI, WAN-IFRA, and the Association of Independent Regional Publishers of Ukraine (AIRPPU) have announced a new initiative to help Ukrainian news organizations leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their organizational sustainability, efficiency, and resilience.

The program consists of two phases. In the "Newsroom AI Masterclass Series," international experts will share practical knowledge and case studies on topics such as editorial workflows, monetization, and the responsible adoption of AI. This will be followed by the "Newsroom AI Catalyst," scheduled to begin on 2026-09-17, which will provide 12 weeks of hands-on support to 10 selected news organizations to pilot AI solutions tailored to their specific needs and develop implementation roadmaps.

All participating organizations will be provided with OpenAI API credits to facilitate the development of solutions specific to their own newsrooms.
