Secretary of Defense Hegseth announced on Monday at SpaceX headquarters in southern Texas that Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, will be integrated into Department of Defense networks, including classified systems, within this month. Grok will operate within the Department of Defense infrastructure alongside Google's generative AI engine. Secretary Hegseth stated that military AI will operate "without ideological constraints that limit legitimate military applications," and remarked that the Department of Defense's AI is "not woke."
This announcement comes several days after Grok faced international criticism for generating non-consensual sexual deepfake images, prompting the UK's Ofcom to launch a formal investigation into X.
