On September 10 (local time), OpenAI announced that it would temporarily suspend new sign-ups for its $200-per-month "ChatGPT Pro (20x)" plan. Tibo, who is responsible for Codex and ChatGPT at the company, made the announcement via his X account.
This measure is reportedly due to demand for the recently announced new model, "GPT-6 Astra," reaching unprecedented levels. The $200 plan is said to be the most system-intensive, and the suspension is described as a necessary step to ensure continuous service delivery.
Existing subscribers will not be affected, and the company stated that it intends to increase processing capacity as quickly as possible.
