U.S. attorneys Monica Vaca and Kati Daffan have filed a class action lawsuit against Anthropic, alleging that the advertising for the company's "Max" subscription plan is deceptive to consumers. According to the complaint, advertisements claiming to provide 5 or 20 times the usage capacity of the Pro plan are misleading, and the actual limits are based on five-hour sessions or weekly usage restrictions.

Anthropic's Max plan is offered at $100 or $200 per month. The complaint points out that detailed terms regarding usage limits are only provided in small print, making it difficult for consumers to understand the reality of the service. In response, Anthropic has argued that the information is accessible via hyperlinks during the purchase process.

This lawsuit is drawing attention as a challenge to service transparency at a time when AI companies are intensifying their monetization efforts amid rising operational costs for AI models.
