Grok reportedly advised Trump on Venezuelan political response prior to U.S. invasion

In December 2025, President Donald Trump held a secret meeting with Elon Musk to discuss various topics, including the political climate in Venezuela, according to reports from Time magazine. During the meeting, Trump reportedly spent several hours interacting with Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok.

The chatbot allegedly provided insights into how the Venezuelan population would respond to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. Grok reportedly told Trump that Maduro was a "deeply unpopular dictator" and that "many Venezuelans would likely celebrate his downfall."

Following the U.S. invasion of Venezuela on January 3, which resulted in the capture of Maduro, sources indicate that Trump viewed Grok's insights as "ingenious."

The use of Grok in political and military contexts has been a subject of interest. The Pentagon's head of AI previously stated that the military used "Gov Grok" to deploy and strike targets during the Iran War. Additionally, the Pentagon recently announced that Elon Musk and Palmer Luckey of Anduril have been selected to co-lead a study on the use of advanced technology on battlefields.
