The startup was founded in late 2025 by Anna Goldie and Azalia Mirhoseini, who previously co-led Google's AlphaChip project—an AI system capable of generating chip layouts in hours. Both founders hold deep expertise in the field, having worked at Google DeepMind and Anthropic.
The company has raised $335 million, including a $300 million Series A, reaching a valuation of $4 billion. Investors include Nvidia and other major venture firms. By enabling AI to learn across different designs, Ricursive Intelligence aims to create a self-improving loop where better AI hardware enables more powerful AI models, which in turn assist in designing even more advanced hardware.
