Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed on the 9th that the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics will cause the global economy to more than double in size in less than ten years. These remarks were made in response to economic growth scenarios presented by the AI startup Anthropic.

In simulations published by Anthropic, it is predicted that the annual GDP growth rate of the United States could reach approximately 15% in an extreme scenario where AI surpasses humans in knowledge work, leading to a surge in productivity. Musk stated that if the mass production of humanoid robots is realized, this prediction will certainly become a reality.

Tesla is currently developing "Optimus," a general-purpose autonomous humanoid robot, and is preparing for mass production. The company is building its manufacturing infrastructure, including the establishment of a dedicated production area for Optimus at its Fremont factory in California. However, Musk also noted that the initial production of Optimus would be "extremely slow," indicating that challenges remain in establishing a full-scale mass production system.
